Study mobility - insight of a foreign student

Every semester, many students take this change and the same goes for our new incoming students. On Friday (02/07/2025), we welcomed 56 students coming from Taiwan, Mexico, Brazil, Malaysia, Thailand, USA and from Europe (Bulgaria, France, Spain, Poland, Portugal and Turkey).  Students from Taylor´s Universty, Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, Thailanda and Missouri Southern State University, USA will be participating in the Erasmus International Credit Mobility. Thanks to this project we can offer grant to cover their living & travel cost.

We were curious why they chose the University of Hradec Králové.

Why have you chosen FIM UHK?

Vica from Taiwan

My major is information management and I have chosen Europe because it is situated in the center. I can travel around and meet new people.

Because it's so beautiful country and it's cheaper than other universities. I like the country, I like the people here.

Paula from Spain

I came because I like a lot Western countries, especially West Europe. And because the university is really modern and I like it a lot. And I like it even more here in person, to be honest.

And I have chosen it because I have some friends back at uni in Mexico that have been here before. So they talked about their experiences here in UHK. And I really like the way they lived here. Like all the friends they made, the things they learned. And also, I checked some pictures of the Czech Republic beforehand. And I thought it was perfect place for me.

The Czech Republic is a country that I always wanted to visit and so I jumped on the opportunity. So far, I'm really enjoying it. I had time to visit a bit the old city and it's beautiful and I'm enjoying it so far. 

 

 

So you have already friends as I can see? 

Yes, they come, we all come from the same university, we all come from EPITA.  Not necessarily from the same place in France but yeah we are together. Okay, anyone else?

I have chosen this university because my father went to the Czech Republic and he said to me that it's a beautiful country which I need to visit one time in my life. So, I decided to come here and I have chosen Hradec Kralove because I saw it the city on Google and it seemed beautiful and so far, I think it is. I'm enjoying it here. I was traveling around the city a bit and for now what I can see it's actually great.

I went to Prague a few years ago but I don't remember much and my parents told me that it this really nice city too. I have chosen Czech Republic mainly because it was a good opportunity travel with Erasmus and I'm very happy to be in this school because it's a big school. I mean I'm not from Paris but from a smaller city so this is a big school for me. And I have already met a lot of people and foreign students and Czech people seems nice as I can see on the first day. So, I have a good time. It´s cool here.  We can see that the reasons vary and each student has their own preferences. But it was lovely to see their enthusiasm, expectation and positive attitude during the Welcome meeting.  

Even though, they have different expectations, we hope everyone enjoys this stay in Hradec Králové, gains new knowledge necessary for further studies, makes new friendships and enjoy their stay at FIM.
