We have established a new partnership with Uzhhorod National University
The vice-deans from a Ukraine-based university visited FIM. The aim of the representatives of two universities meeting was to establish cooperation.
A Ukrainian delegation visited the FIM UHK at the end of February. The Vice-Dean for Foreign Cooperation Ruslana Žovtani, Vice-Dean for Scientific Activities Maria Kashka, and Vice-Dean for Educational Activities Mariana Popik were members of the delegation.
UHK Dean, Josef Hynek, and Vice-Dean for Development and International Affairs, Petra Poulová, heartily welcomed the representatives of the Uzhhorod National University at the Faculty of Informatics and Management of the University of Hradec Králové in the early hours of the day. After a fruitful and amicable meeting, the visitors were taken on an all-round tour of the Faculty and then invited to lunch. Negotiations and dialogue resulted in the representatives of the two Universities again sitting down behind a table and attaching their signatures to the Cooperation Agreement. In doing so, they laid down the grounds for mutual cooperation in student and employee mobility and mobility for academic workers.
“During celebrations commemorating 100 years of the founding of Czechoslovakia, the Faculty decided to become involved in former Carpathian Ruthenia, which used to be a part of our country a long time ago. Thanks to cooperation with the Regional Council President (hejtman) of the Pardubice Region, we managed to select and admit two very talented students last year. They will be studying informatics. Serhii Konar and Denys Danylko received a faculty scholarship and are already in their second year of our programme taught in English,” Josef Hynek, Faculty Dean, explains the beginnings of building a cooperation with the Ukrainian-based university: “When we got a letter from the Uzhhorod National University at the beginning of this year, we took it as a logical extension of our interest in this area and we agreed very quickly that the representatives of the Uzhhorod National University would visit us in Hradec Králové. It didn’t take long, and we were soon on the same boat with the vice-deans. We signed the agreement, and we will most probably be meeting more Ukrainian students at the faculty in the near future. Our students can look forward to study stays and internships in Uzhhorod. They can study economics and management or informatics. Considering how much Czech tourists love the local landscape and the beautiful mountains, in particular, Uzhhorod is also an ideal destination for our students of tourism.”
The Uzhhorod National University is one of the biggest universities in the Ukraine. It was founded in 1945 as the Uzhhorod State University. It changed its name in 2000 to Uzhhorod National University, as we know it today. The University lies on the slopes of the Carpathians in the beautiful and picturesque town of Uzhhorod, a place much loved by students. The town is the westernmost regional centre of the Ukraine. The University is made up of 21 parts, 20 faculties and the Ukrainian-Hungarian Educational and Scientific Institute.
