About us

As for other specialized fields of study, students are taught the methods of algorithmization, data structures, object-oriented programming languages (Java, C++, C#), their development tools (Eclipse, Netbeans, MS Visual Studio .NET) and non-procedural programming languages (Prolog). The instruction of database and information systems is focused on object-oriented methodologies, CASE tools and database resources. A number of courses are taught in English.

The department offers  BA and the follow-up MA Applied Informatics degree programs. As for the structure and the contents of courses, the BA degree program is suitable for secondary school graduates as well as for professionals that want to deepen their knowledge and extend their horizons. Both degree programs are offered in full-time as well as part-time forms of study.

The central to the research activity of the department is the analysis and development of new possibilities of e-technologies and their use for educational purposes. The academic staff are also engaged in design of new forms and use of mobile technologies in the business sphere, or the evaluation of advanced technologies in companies.

The department emphasizes cooperation with departments of other universities and, first and foremost, with the IT commercial sphere. Experts from IT companies and institutions participate in the instruction as trainers and consultants of students´ dissertations. The department strives to maintain solid contacts with the graduates who are invited to give occasional lectures and to share their experience from their studies and careers with current students.
