Departments

The Faculty of Education at the University of Hradec Králové is a place where education is grounded in understanding the human being, culture, and the world we live in. Our departments and institutes create an environment in which pedagogy is understood as a relationship, dialogue, and responsibility. The faculty’s academic units cover a wide range of disciplines – from languages, literature, and the arts, through social and cultural studies, to technology, informatics, physical education, and pedagogical and psychological fields. This diversity is not an end in itself, but a means to deeper understanding of education in its broader contexts. What unites all departments and institutes is the shared belief that quality education emerges through dialogue – between disciplines, between people, and between theory and practice. In this way, the Faculty of Education at UHK creates a space for education that is professional, open, and responsible.

The Faculty of Education at the University of Hradec Králové is composed of 13 academic units, including departments and institutes that reflect the breadth and interdisciplinary character of contemporary educational sciences. Together, they cover a wide spectrum of fields ranging from languages, literature, and the arts to social sciences, pedagogy, psychology, technology, informatics, and physical education.

The academic units of the Faculty share a common commitment to education grounded in understanding the learner, the social and cultural context, and the ethical dimensions of teaching and learning. Their work combines disciplinary expertise with a strong pedagogical focus, connecting theory, research, and educational practice.
