Cooperation with Plovdiv
We have extended the list of partner institutions to the Bulgarian University. The opportunity to study at the second largest Bulgarian university, located in the beautiful city of Plovdiv, was confirmed during the November visit of representatives from the Faculty of Education.
Establishing official cooperation with the Bulgarian University was preceded by the long-term efforts of Professor Vladimír Křivánek. As a professor of Slavic literatures with a focus on the Czech literature, he became interested in Bulgarian. At the turn of the 1970s and 1980s he participated in the Bulgarian Summer School in Sofia several times. Apart from his Bohemian scientific orientation, he also deals with comparative Slavic studies, especially Czech-Bulgarian literary parallels, and translations from Bulgarian. He has visited Bulgaria many times, often lectured for Bohemicists and Slavicists at the universities of Sofia, Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad. He is one of the popular foreign poets in Bulgaria – in addition to magazine translations, three books of his poems were published in excellent translations. He has been going to the Plovdiv University on a regular basis since the 1990s. He publishes his studies in Bohemian and comparative studies in Sofia and Plovdiv professional journals. He personally knows all the current significant Bohemicists and Slavicists in Bulgaria and translators from Czech literature too. He appreciates the most professional and friendly cooperation with the head of the Department of Slavonic Studies, prof. dr. Žoržeta Čolakova, DrSc. from the Plovdiv University. He contributed to the mutually beneficial cooperation between UHK and the Pajsi Khilendarski University in Plovdiv with his professional activity and friendly personal contacts.
The possibility of studying at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Bulgarian University is open to students of our philological disciplines.
