Another great success of the university in international ranking

In the so-called Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, which has been published by the international ranking company ShanghaiRanking since 2017, 10 Czech universities were ranked this year in competition with more than 1,800 higher education institutions from all over the world, which is also a great success for UHK!
The evaluation takes place in a total of 54 fields, concentrated in five areas: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. The University of Hradec Králové was ranked together with Masaryk University in the field of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences in the shared 401st-500th place.
Evaluators select candidate institutions based on a predetermined minimum number of publications in a given field. They collect primary data from Web of Science and Clarivate's InCities (which pre-empts some humanity sciences whose journals are excluded from these databases). Universities are further ranked in five categories – Q1 (number of articles with Q1 Journal Impact Factor Quartile between 2016-2020); CNCI (Category Normalized Citation Impact – the ratio of citations of papers published to the average citations of papers in the same category, the same year and same type of journal publication, by an institution in an Academic Subject during the period of 2016-2020); IC (International collaboration – comparison of the ratios of the number of published articles in international collaboration); Top (number of institution's articles in top-rated professional journals); Award (the number of university employees who have achieved a significant award in their field).

In the future, I hope that we will also be placed in the main so-called Shanghai ranking among the truly world's best scientific institutions, where we undoubtedly belong," comments the university's Rector, prof. Kamil Kuča.
