From Monday, November 14, the exhibition "Czech-Baltic Century 1921–2021" can be seen in Masaryk Square in Hradec Králové. It was officially opened by the ambassadors of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, together with representatives of the University of Hradec Králové.
The ceremonial opening of the exhibition was attended by H.E. Gunta Pastore (Latvia), H.E. Gita Kalmet (Estonia), H.E. Laimonas Talat-Kelpša (Lithuania), and on behalf of UHK the Vice-Rector for International Affairs, Dr. Leona Stašová, Dean of the Philosophical Faculty UHK, Dr. Jan Prouza, and assoc. prof. Zdeněk Beran, head of the Institute of History of the Philosophical Faculty UHK.
The exhibition, which includes 12 large-format panels, is subheaded "One hundred years of diplomatic relations between Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and the Czech Republic".
In December 1921, Czechoslovakia de jure recognized Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia and soon established diplomatic relations with the three Baltic states. Cooperation between our countries, which in many ways share a similar fate, has expanded over the century and continues successfully today in the fields of politics, economics, security, culture, and European integration. The Czech-Baltic Century exhibition draws attention to the most remarkable milestones of our shared history and documents how the Czech Republic and the Baltic states have become much closer over the years than we usually think.
As part of the opening of the exhibition, students had the opportunity to participate in a discussion with representatives of the Baltic states.
