When they crossed eyes for the first time Simona Šilhánová thought that Jakub Sofka is an arrogant fool. But later they realized that the first impression was misleading. Jakub is the man of her life and the two got married a couple of years later here, at the University of Hradec Králové.

One of the top places for young couples is the park Jiráskovy sady. But Šrámkův statek, a historical timbered house just outside of Hradec, is also very popular. "We had one wedding at the top of the White Tower and also in the building of the J. K. Tyl secondary grammar school," said the spokeswoman of the city hall, Kateřina Šmídová. She also mentioned that the officials sometimes have to let down couples that want to marry in unusual places. Like in a flying balloon.
