Russian Transmedia Poetry as a Model of Literature in Post-digital Era
Faculty of Education UHK
Project Description
The project will focus on contemporary Russian transmedia poetry, which means the poetry is presented simultaneously in different media, in virtual as well as in public space. The research will present the activities of two closely collaborating literary circles - St Petersburg´s poetry group called Laboratoria Poeticheskogo Aktsionizma and the literary and theoretical journal [Translit]. Analyses will be carried out in their works in the context of the Russian literary tradition of the historical avant-garde and Moscow conceptualism as well as in the international context of electronic literature. The research is supposed to prove that Russian transmedia poetry is a highly significant area in the contemporary Russian literary context, the area characterized by its inclination towards a new synthesis of art and poetic utterance delivered through traditional as well as digital media and by its accent on erasing the borders between public and virtual space and on the civic engagement of poetry works. Russian transmedia poetry will thus be presented as a model of literature in the post-digital era.
