Treatment and care of people with Alzheimer's disease - economic burden in the context of the development of new drugs

Project Description

The aim of the project is to analyse the developmental changes in the number of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease and the related needs in the sphere of treatment and care in the Czech Republic. The regions of Hradec Králové and Vysočina will be focused on. The direct and indirect costs, the need for formal caregivers, and other consequences expected up to 2050 will be specified. The model scenarios will take into account the possible development of new drugs applicable in the individual stages of the disease and possible savings. The project results will create the base for establishing the conception convenient for the two regions, and they are also expected to bring outputs applicable to the whole Czech Republic. Because of the expected existence of varied scenarios, a web application will be the output of the project.
