Modern Africa: Politics, History, and Society je bezplatné open access peer-reviewed akademické periodikum (viz ROAD a DOAJ), vydávané Filozofickou fakultou UHK. Texty publikované v Modern Africa se věnují důležitým politickým, sociálním a historickým tématům z regionu Afriky. Žurnál klade důraz na interdisciplinární přístup, který zahrnuje poznatky z humanitárních a společenských věd jako je politologie, sociologie, historie, antropologie, genderová, environmentální či rozvojová studia a další. Všechny texty jsou v anglickém jazyce.

Modern Africa vychází ve dvou číslech ročně. Každé vydání obsahuje odborné články, reporty a recenze. Veškerá dosavadní vydání žurnálu jsou bezplatně veřejně dostupná v elektronické verzi. Nejnovější číslo je navíc vždy možné zakoupit v tištěné podobě. Časopis je indexován v databázích Scopus (Scimago), European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIH Plus), Ebsco Sociology Source, Google Scholar, DOAJ a International Political Science Abstracts. Archivován je ve webovém archivu Národní knihovny ČR (www.webarchiv.cz).

Instrukce pro autory

• Časopis Modern Africa: Politics, History and Society publikuje texty výhradně v anglickém jazyce.
• Příspěvky by se měly týkat historie, politiky či sociálních otázek v Africe.
• Texty by měly být v podobě odborných článků (papery či studie, cca 8000–10000 slov), reviews (knih, časopisů či událostí) nebo zpráv (o událostech, konferencích apod.)
• Všechny standardní texty musí být uvozeny abstraktem (125–130 slov) a pěti klíčovými slovy.
• Texty jsou posílány prostřednictvím webového rozhraní. Pokud se jedná o odborný článek, který prochází anonymním recenzním řízením, musí být odstraněny informace prozrazující identitu autora/autorů.

Modern Africa: Politics, History, and Society is a no-fee open access peer-reviewed academic journal (see ROAD and DOAJ) published by the Philosophical Faculty, University of Hradec Králové, Czech Republic. Published in English, the journal makes accessible original texts covering important political, social and historical themes concerning Africa. Its editorial policy encourages an interdisciplinary approach, involving the humanities and social sciences, including political studies, history, sociology, anthropology, gender studies, environmental and development studies, etc.

The journal is published twice a year. Each issue includes the following sections: Research articles, Reports, and Reviews. The journal is open access as all issues are fully accessible for free. It is also possible to buy the newest issue in printed version. The journal is indexed or abstracted in Scopus (Scimago), European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIH Plus), Ebsco Sociology Source, Google Scholar, DOAJ and International Political Science Abstracts. The journal is archived at web archive of National Library of the Czech Republic (www.webarchiv.cz)

Instructions for authors 

• The texts should deal with politics, history, and society of the African region.
• The texts should be either in the form of articles (papers or studies, about 8 000–10 000 words), reports (of events, conferences, etc.), or reviews (of books, journals).
• All full-length articles must be preceded by an abstract (between 125–130 words) with five keywords.

• All submissions should be submitted by using our web interface. In case of submitting a Research Article, which will be peer-reviewed,  prevent identities of authors to be known.

• The texts should adhere to citation guidelines of APA 7th Ed.
