The Department of English Language and Literature (KAJL) offers a wide range of Anglophone study programmes in both full-time form and in the lifelong learning courses for in-service teachers:

Teaching at the department is guaranteed by a high-quality team of scholars specializing in various fields of linguistic, literary and didactic research. Students can use a departmental library with copious amounts of books in English. Courses take place in classrooms equipped with modern technology.

KAJL annually organizes international Hradec Králové Anglophone Conference and publishes a scientific peer-reviewed journal Hradec Králové Journal of Anglophone Studies.

The Department of English Language and Literature, in cooperation with the Circle of Modern Philologists, regularly organizes lectures by prominent researchers and it is currently the seat of the regional centre of the Association of Teachers of English of the Czech Republic.

In addition to the universities involved in Erasmus+ programme, KAJL closely cooperates with partner institutions in the USA (Eastern Michigan University, University of Findlay ) and the United Kingdom (University of Winchester ) where its students can also study.
