Program Description
Teaching at Basic Art Schools – Playing a Musical Instrument and Solo Singing is a master degree study programme organized in the full-time form of study.
The program offers broad knowledge and skills in music theory, developed interpretative skills in a chosen area, developed instrumental skills (piano playing and score reading), teaching methods, and teaching skills. Students gain basic theoretical orientation in instrumental or vocal interpretation.

Previous Education/Experience
The applicant should have finished a bachelor degree in a related program (piano/organ/violin playing or solo singing).
The applicant must prove by submitting a transcript of succesfully passed courses from Pedagogy at the Faculty of Education, UHK: Fundamental Pedagogy, Fundamental and Developmental Psychology, General Didactics, Social and Personality Psychology, Teaching Practicum, Topics in Education, Instructive Practices 1, 2.
Or he/she must prove that he/she passed content-related courses in his /her previous studies (transcript) to be considered by Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of the Faculty of Education.
Career Opportunities
Graduates have achieved to develop pedagogical and psychological competences with a focus on the selected specialization (playing the piano, organ, viloin or solo singing), graduates manage the konwledge and skills in the field of teaching methodology and achieve hihg interpretative level.
Graduates are oriented in music-theory subjects with knowledge and skills for individual instrument/solo singing instruction, as well as for music theory classes and choir work at the art schools, they are qualified for conditions and requests from the practice for example as teachers at basic art schools in individual classes (selected area), teachers of choir and as teachers of music theory.

- a verified copy of the bachelor diploma in English *
- a transcript/supplement proving the content and the scope of the previous bachelor studies *
- a confirmation of the language competence to study in English
- a motivation letter showing applicant´s previous study results, their study objectives, expectations, practical experience and other professional skills. (min. 3600 letters)
- a performance video (min 5 min) showing the skills in the expected specialisation (piano, violin, organ, solo singing).
- a copy of passport
* the authenticity of these documents have to be verified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the foreign country and by the Czech embassy (or obtained with apostille). The documents are object to comparison to the Czech educational system.
