Professor Anton Galaev, DrSc., from the Department of Mathematics Faculty of Science University of Hradec Králové, has been appointed Professor of Mathematics – Geometry. This prestigious career milestone reflects his extensive scientific contributions, dedication to teaching, and commitment to advancing both theoretical mathematics and its practical applications.

Mathematics has been an integral part of Professor Galaev’s life since he began his university studies in 1998. “My father, who worked in the same field, was my inspiration. Despite being advised to pursue computer science or applied mathematics, I remained committed to pure mathematics,” he recalls. Since 2014, he has been affiliated with the University of Hradec Králové, where he engages in research, teaching, and student mentorship.

Throughout his academic career, Professor Galaev has been involved in multiple research projects funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR). Among them, he particularly values his postdoctoral project at Masaryk University and a GA ČR project conducted at the University of Hradec Králové. His research remains deeply rooted in theoretical mathematics; however, he emphasizes the significance of its application across various scientific disciplines. “Experience shows that it is essential for research to have a clear direction towards applications,” he notes.

His academic journey has been shaped by distinguished mentors, including Professor RNDr. Jan Slovák, DrSc., who provided invaluable support during his habilitation and professorial appointment process. At the Faculty of Science UHK, he has also received strong backing from Associate Professor RNDr. PaedDr. Pavel Trojovský, Ph.D., whose versatile approach he deeply appreciates.

Beyond his academic and scientific endeavors, Professor Galaev places great importance on maintaining a balanced personal life. He enjoys spending time with his family, going on trips with his children, and unwinding through music. These activities help him navigate the demands of academia while preserving personal well-being.

The Faculty of Science, University of Hradec Králové, congratulates Professor Galaev on his appointment and wishes him many outstanding students and continued success in his research and academic pursuits.
