Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The tuition fees for all degree programmes at Faculty of Science vary from €100 to €3000 per academic year depending on the type of programme (according to the Dean´s Decision No. 7/2022  - no other hidden costs).

The University of Hradec Králové awards scholarships to its students for excellent study results or extra work for university. No other bursary is granted, but the tuition fees are very reasonable compared to other European universities.

You can study provided degree programmes in English or Czech languages at UHK.

You can study bachelor´s, master´s or doctoral (PhD) degree programmes at UHK, your previous education is subject to comparison to the Czech education system (nostrification).

You will receive a certificate of study in a printed (paper) form at the Study Department of the Faculty of Science, UHK; if you need the certificate to be sent by e-mail, you will receive a document with an electronic seal.

Contact the study coordinator responsible for study programmes in English language at the department that guarantees your studies. He / She will help you arrange your plan of study (curriculum) for the current academic year and the timetable for the current semester. After arranging your plan of study and timetable, contact (preferably in person) the Study Department at the Faculty of Science, UHK.  Both the plan and timetable will then be entered into STAG information system (all your study records are registered and recorded in it). You will not operate or work in IS STAG yourself, this service is provided by the Study Department. Teachers record your exam results and credits in IS STAG.

You will arrange the dates of credits and exams individually with your teachers, usually on dates  according to the Academic Year Schedule (click).

You have a total of 3 dates of examination in one year (1 regular and 2 re-sit). If you do not pass a credit or an exam by the end of an academic year, you can register for the course again for next academic year and try to pass the credit or exam again (you will have 3 dates of examination again).

The accommodation scholarship is automatically evaluated by the information system according to the data provided in the Associated Information of Student Registries. The student does not submit a written or electronic application; if all conditions are met, the scholarship is be granted automatically.

A written application is submitted to the Study Department of the Faculty of Science, UHK. The duration of the interruption of studies (from - to) must be specified in the application text; usually from the first day of the month to the last day of the month; students can usually interrupt their studies for the whole semester or semesters (up to a maximum of 2 years), students waiting for the state final examination can interrupt their studies repeatedly and even for a shorter period (e.g. a month).

After the interruption termination it is necessary to notify the return to study in a written form. Please mind that you do not have the status of a student during the interruption of your studies.

The ID card enables a full participation in the university life. Without it you will not be allowed to enter some university buildings and to use internal university services (access to UHK buildings and classrooms, borrowing books from the UHK University Library, copying, entrance to parking lots, etc.). In addition, it offers other possibilities of use outside the university, e.g. activation of the card for the Study and Research Library in Hradec Králové.

An ISIC card is valid for up to 16 months, or always from 1 September (beginning of the academic year) to 31 December of the following year. This means that if you arrange a card at any time between 1 September of one year and 31 December of the following year, it is always valid until 31 December of the following year. Validity of a card is therefore not set for all 12 calendar months from its issue date!

In order to apply for the state final examination, follow the procedure below:

  1. The student must complete the whole curriculum before the state final examination (he / she must check the fulfilment of all credit and exam requirements in IS / STAG in advance). Then he / she must contact (preferably in person) the Study Department of the Faculty of Science, UHK.
  2. Once a student decides on taking the state final examination, he / she fills in the Registration Form  and then submits it to the Study Department.
  3. The student signs the document with a list of completed courses/curriculum proposed by Study Department stuff.
  4. The dates of the state final examination are set by the Faculty management.

The state final examination or its final part must be successfully completed within two years after completing curriculum, i. e. after fulfilling all credit and exam requirements.

In the penultimate year of study you decide and consult the topic of your qualification thesis with the coordinator of the study at your department. The coordinator then guides you through all following administrative steps.

If you definitely decide to terminate (leave) your study, you notify the Study Department in a written form. It is recommended to send a completedNotification of dropping out of the study or a letter stating: "I, (name and surname) announce my decision to terminate the study on…" (exact date) and signature. If no date is specified, the study will be terminated on the day of delivery of the form / letter.

The Study Department will not issue any decision to the student. The Study Department will provide a recapitulation of all passed exams and credits only upon request. If you decide to leave the study during a semester (year), the tuition fee will not be refunded.

For your studies in English there is no limit set for fulfilling the number of credits per academic year. You consult how quickly you want to advance in your study with the coordinator of a study programme in English at your department.
