Physicist Jan Kříž re-elected as a candidate for the dean of the Faculty of Science at UHK
On November 2, 2022, the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Science of the University of Hradec Králové unanimously elected doc. RNDr. Jan Kříž, Ph.D. as the dean of the faculty. Jan Kříž should be appointed to the dean´s position by the rector of the University of Hradec Králové Kamil Kuča on March 1, 2023. Jan Kříž has been the head of the faculty since 2019, so this is his second elected term.
I have decided to run because I feel my work has not finished yet.
"We have had many successes behind us, such as expanding the offer of doctoral studies, accrediting double-degree programs, and especially, obtaining additional rights to habilitation and professorship management in the field of ICT in education. However, I see the lack of science teachers as a fundamental social problem we need to solve. Therefore, one of my goals will be to improve and develop these study programs to make them attractive to applicants, and at the same time to motivate them to apply for the programs. I also see a partial solution in the possibility of expanding the study programs for current teachers in the form of lifelong learning programs. We managed to launch this offer during my dean work and activity, and we will continue work on that," explains Jan Kříž.
Another area Jan Kříž is planning to focus on in the coming period is the support and development of science: "We manage to maintain the number of published articles in scientific databases, and it is evident that their quality is increasing. Applied research is also developing, and I am happy that we have the first spin-off companies. We also cooperate with the commercial sphere. Futhermore, we must also focus on acquiring international projects in cooperation with foreign partners and stable and strategic funding of science at the faculty," he states other goals.
"I would also like to support paths that will lead to greater energy self-sufficiency of our faculty. I wish that the faculty takes a responsible approach to the environment, actively participates in society-wide activities related to social and environmental responsibility, and is a role model in it," concludes Jan Kříž.
