Times Higher Education: World University Rankings by Subject

The University of Hradec Králové has achieved significant placements in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject, reflecting the dedication and hard work of our academics, students, and staff. The university’s strongest result was in Life Sciences, ranking in the 501-600 range worldwide and securing a shared 4–6th place among Czech universities. UHK also performed well in Computer Science, placing in the 601-800 range globally and earning a shared 4–7th place nationally.

Additionally, the university was recognized in Education Studies (601+ shared place and 2–5th among Czech universities), Arts and Humanities (601+ shared place and 4–5th place nationally), and Physical Sciences (ranked in the 801–1000 range globally and shared 4–9th place among Czech universities).

"These achievements mark a significant step forward in the global recognition of our endeavors. They would not have been possible without the dedication of the entire UHK community. We extend our sincere gratitude to all faculty members, researchers, students, and staff whose efforts contribute to our university’s growing international reputation. I am thrilled with all our work and look forward to collaborating with all the inspiring people at our university on the joint future of higher education," adds UHK Rector, Jan Kříž.

THE

Shanghai Ranking

A separate ranking for individual scientific fields has been published since 2009. In the field of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, we ranked alongside two other Czech universities, Charles University and Palacký University in Olomouc, among 1,900 evaluated institutions.

The evaluation is conducted across 55 disciplines grouped into five areas: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. The University of Hradec Králové appeared in the rankings for the first time in 2022, and in 2024, we once again secured a shared position in the 401st–500th bracket in the field of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences.

"Although I am relatively new to the position of Vice-Rector for Science, Research, and Knowledge transfer, I am already getting a good sense of what the university has set up correctly in these areas and where we have potential for growth. I am very pleased that this year we have returned to the Shanghai GRAS (Global Ranking of Academic Subjects), at least in the field of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. At the same time, I believe our researchers have the capacity to elevate us in fields such as economics, finance, IT, philosophy, political science, mathematics, and even education. I see this year’s success in the rankings as a strong motivation to work together to improve our standing in other disciplines as well," said Hana Tomášková, UHK Vice-Rector for Science, Research, and Knowledge transfer.
