Ph.D. students
The main goal of the programme is to support Ph.D. students in their study, start of their professional path and successful transition from doctoral studies to doctorate and further career in or outside academia. It is therefore suitable for Ph.D. students in all years of study.
Mentoring is not a substitution for cooperation between Ph.D. students and their supervisors. It has different goals and functions. Supervisor´s main role is to lead the Ph.D. student to a successful defense of the Ph.D. thesis. The mentor's role is to share her or his experience with specific working environments, agendas, situations etc. It is up to the individual mentee in what their is interested in and it is up to the mentor what s/he is willing to share. Thus, the mentor can provide inspiration for both, working and personal life, or for strategies how to combine them. Sharing the mentor´s personal and professional story can be a catalyst for changes in the mentee´s own professional path.
The mentoring relationship is very flexible in time, scope and the form of the meetings. It depends on the individual agreement between the mentor and the mentee.
If you are interested, please fill in the application form.
Deadline for your application is 24th May 2022.
What will be the next steps:
- After signing up for the programme, you will receive an invitation to an Introductory Preparation Workshop.
- During the workshop, you will clarify your mentoring goals, identify the areas for your cooperation with the mentor and the ideal profile of your mentor/s and create your mentoring plan for this year. You can cooperate with more than one mentor.
- You will choose the mentor/s from the mentors´ database or you will address prospective mentor/s by your own choice. The coordinator of the programme will help you with it.
- You will meet the mentor/s and make a schedule of your cooperation. The next communication with your mentor/s is up to your agreement.
- At the end of the year, there will be a closing event for all mentees and mentors. It is an opportunity for feedback for the programme coordinator and further networking with other mentees and mentors.
Should you have any more questions considering the mentoring programme, please contact the programme coordinator Ing. Petra Křížová (petra.krizova@uhk.cz).
