VPN connection
The FortiGate VPN service enables remote access to the UHK computer network from the Internet. Every university user, except for students of the Institute of Social Work, has the opportunity to use this connection. The User undertakes to fulfil the following conditions:
The operating systems, from which users connect to the UHK VPN server, must be Windows Vista and above, with the latest service packs and hotfixes installed. It is also possible to connect from Linux systems, in current versions and with the latest revisions installed.
- The antivirus program must be operated and regularly updated on the connected station.
- Personnel firewall must be running on the connected station.
All VPN users are responsible for any damage that may be caused by misuse of their login and password. For this reason, it is especially important that they choose a password that is strong enough and protect the password appropriately from disclosure to others.
It is extremely dangerous if users use the option to save a password for a VPN connection. We recommend that you do not store them in the system.
Detailed instructions in pdf for Windows installation and installation packages for the other clients (Mac OS and Linux) can be found below in the attached internal documents.
If you have a problem connecting to a VPN in the future, always check the current setup instructions there. Always use the latest version of the VPN client to be downloaded here. SW updates occur regularly, and it may happen that an older VPN client may not work correctly.
The address for the VPN connection is https://vpn.uhk.cz (it is possible to connect to the VPN only from the Internet, the network of the halls of residence and the eduroam network).
If you have any technical questions, please contact the UHK Service Centre.
