About Us

Erasmus Student Network, or ESN for short, is a non-profit organisation by students for students. As one of the biggest student organisations in Europe, it strives to support the idea of student mobility by developing student exchange and sharing its general idea.

We, the ESN Hradec Králové section, are here to uphold the general aims and principles of the organisation as a whole. That being mainly working in interests and better integration of international students, representing their rights and needs on levels up to the international stage, and providing relevant and useful information about international mobility programmes, among others.

Our members become buddies to incoming students, helping them overcome challenges that come with staying in a foreign country - be it helping with minor administrative matters and integration, or providing information about city and university life.

History

Established in the year 2003 under the University of Hradec Králové, the organisation was simply called the Buddy System, a programme that aimed to help foreign students with their new life in the country. The organisation slowly grew into what it is today, with now around 30 active members and a number of volunteers helping out. The goal is still more or less the same with us trying to make the life of our exchange students as easy and stress-free as possible. ESN HK tries to help not only Erasmus students but also students from other programs. An exchange like this is a completely new experience, and we're working on making it the best we can.

Activities

The Tutor Team of ESN HK works to make the whole semester as entertaining and as fun as possible, through monthly events, for example organising trips, sports activities, parties and sightseeing in the Czech Republic.

For example events like Language Café, where students get to share their culture and language with others. Or, through the ESN CZ network, the students can compete in sports tournaments and possibly go abroad to compete on an international level.

Anyone joining the organisation is free to join in organising these events or even pitching their ideas for events!
