  • Typ studia: Bakalářské
  • Forma studia: Prezenční
  • Doba studia: 3 roky
  • Vyučovací jazyk: Angličtina

Popis studia

The bachelor study program Chemistry is focused on the study of common profile chemical disciplines (General and Inorganic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry) together with the basics of physics, informatics, mathematics and professional English language. Theoretical knowledge is developed within the compulsory courses within the seminars and laboratory practice from the profile courses. Chemically oriented education is further developed by specializations where the student can choose either a block of courses focused on Bioorganic Chemistry or Toxicology. The student can also choose other chemical, bio-chemical, biological, informatics and other courses as a suitable complement to profile courses and courses of selected specialization, where students are able to gain foreign experience within research internships. The study is completed with a final State Examination in chemically focused thematic areas with an optional part for each specialization and the defence of the Bachelor Thesis.

The aim of the study is to acquaint students with basic chemical and related disciplines with an emphasis on practical laboratory experience and skills. The study of this program enables direct output into practice, but also the possibility to continue in the corresponding follow-up Master's study.

Profil uchazeče

A graduate of a high school, where chemistry was taught at least as a general course.

Profil absolventa

The graduate of the Bachelor's study program Chemistry has detailed knowledge of all basic chemical disciplines and related fields. In particular, the graduate is able to demonstrate chemical, mathematical and physical knowledge for molecular and macroscopic transformations, properties of elements, their compounds and structures. Furthermore, graduate is able to understand the possibilities, conditions and limitations of various methods of experimental measurement as well as limitations related to their accuracy. The graduate is also able to understand the connection of chemical practice with health, human nutrition, environmental risks and sustainable development.

The graduate's professional profile is developed through a specialization focused either on Bioorganic Chemistry or Toxicology. Thanks to a wide range of courses, the graduate is well oriented in chemically focused information, in which graduate is able to search, analyse and draw conclusions. The graduate is able to work safely in the chemical laboratory and responsibly assess the risks of such work.

Knowledge of structure and physical-chemical properties of chemical compounds as well as biological and toxicological processes give the graduate a prerequisite for successful study in the follow-up Master's study programs focused on chemical disciplines in the Czech Republic or abroad.
