Courses of Studies
The Department of Applied Cybernetics guarantees
- Bachelor's study programme of Informatics Focused on Education,
- Follow-up Master's study programme of Teacher Training for Secondary Schools - Informatics,
- Continuous Master's study programme of Teacher Training for the 2nd Level of Primary Schools - Informatics,
- Doctoral study programme of Information and Communication Technology in Education.
Bachelor's Study Programme
A three-year Bachelor's study programme of Informatics Focused on Education is the first level to acquire a computer science teacher's qualification for secondary schools. During this study programme students acquire a sufficiently profound theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The main objective of this study programme is to develop students' ability to deeply understand the subject matter, to study the new subject matter independently and to pass on the acquired knowledge to others. Subjects in each semester cover areas related to theoretical computer science, algorithms and programming, SW and HW. Graduates of the Bachelor's study programme can also benefit from the acquired knowledge and skills even if they decide to complete their studies at this level (a lecturer of IT knowledge and skills, etc.). They can also use the acquired knowledge and skills as good basis to study a follow-up ("non-teaching") Master's study programme focused on computer science.
Master's Study Programme
Within the two-year follow-up Master's study programme of Teacher Training for Secondary Schools - Informatics, the graduates acquire the necessary knowledge and full qualification to pursue the teaching profession of Informatics at the secondary school.
Within the framework of a five-year continuous Master's study programme Teacher Training for the 2nd Level of the Primary School - Informatics, the graduates acquire the necessary knowledge and full qualification to pursue teaching profession of Informatics at the 2nd level of the primary school.
Doctoral Study Programme
The aim of the doctoral study programme of the Information and Communication Technology in Education is both the systematic preparation of IT specialists for independent creative work in science, research or development in the field of the computer science education theory, and the preparation of these specialists for solving difficult, complex theoretical and practical problems related to the issue of teaching informatics. The doctoral graduates will find employment as teachers and didactics of the informatics at all types of schools, as authors of teaching materials or scientists of various specializations.
Science and Research
The academic staff of the Department focuses in particular on research in methods and the use of information and communication technology resources in education, which is closely related to the carried out doctoral study programme. Another specialization of the Department is the support of the natural sciences, especially of physics. The research work in this area is focused on modelling physical situations using ICT.
