After three years, on 17-22 July 2022, another Differential Geometry and its Applications (DGA) Conference was held at the Faculty of Science, UHK. The conference was attended by almost 120 participants.
The topic of differential geometry is in the interest of the Faculty of Scinece, UHK; the Department of Mathematics has a significant group of scientists who focus their research on this topic.
"It is an honor for us to hold the DGA Conference at Faculty of Science again. We see this as proof that we belong to a respected part of a global research in this field. We are sure that this week filled with lectures and discussions contributed to its development," explains associate professor Anton Galaev, Chairman of the DGA Organizational and Programme Committee. He himself is a member of the above-mentioned research group.
Lectures were given by scientists from the United States of America, Spain, Italy, Germany, Japan, India and Australia. The conference programme was divided into plenary lectures and parallel workshops. It also included a poster section with research presentations by some participants.
Differential geometry is an area of mathematics that deals with properties of curves, surfaces and other objects to which advanced mathematical methods are applied. In addition, it can be used, for example, on real data, so it is also used in physics, technical or biomedical fields, e.g. in robot controlling or digital image processing.
