"Let's Play Using Your Brain" was encouraged by waves

"Every year, we try to come up with a new and attractive topic, thanks to which we can introduce interesting physical phenomena or present known and popular experiments in a new context to children and students," says RNDr. Michaela Křížová, Ph.D., from the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Science and the main organizer of the event. This year the participants could observe or carry out experiments with waves and undulation in all forms, e.g. square and sound waves, they could experience shows with liquid nitrogen, dry ice, non-Newtonian liquid, carry out experiments with electricity and magnets, rockets, they could learn about plants and animals or see robots of various shapes and sizes.

Together, the participants also crated a live rainbow of people that waved all over the Václav Havel Square.

"Let us keep the topic for the next year event secret for now, but we promise that the future participants will definitely not be bored and the event will be very attractive and inviting again. The next year topic will be announced in the spring of 2023," promises dr. Křížová.

 

 

"Let's Play Using Your Brain" gives opportunity not only to students of science study programs at the Faculty of Science and students studying at the Faculty of Education to test their presentation skills with a broad age groups of children, but it also offers opprtunities to other schools and institutions from Hradec Králové to get involved in the rich and intense programme. Among them we can find the Observatory and Planetarium, Children and Youth Centre, Bishop Grammar School, Church Elementary School and Kindergarten, Elementary Art School, First Private Language Grammar School, Higher Vocational Medical School and Secondary Medical School, Vocelova Secondary School and Vocational School and  Special Pedagogical Centre for Visually Impaired Children.

"We thank everyone who participated in this year's event, whether they were students of the University of Hradec Králové or other secondary schools or  organizers. Our thanks also goes to all visitors, schools, children and parents for coming back to our campus after two years to experience science for themselves," concludes Dr. Michaela Křížová.
