ID cards
The University of Hradec Králové issues student cards, employee cards and lifelong learning participants' cards in the form of contactless chip identification cards (hereinafter referred to as ID cards). ID cards enable the use of all established UHK services functioning within UHK as well as the introduction of new services outside UHK in cooperation with external partners. International students receive all information about ID cards (student cards) and the possibility of applying for them at the relevant faculties.
Student Card
The obligation of each student is to have a valid student card in accordance with Higher Education Act No. 11/1998 Coll. (s. 57). Based on the Rector's Decree No. 6/2014 and No. 1/2016, this card is a chip identification card (hereinafter only ID card) at the UHK.
Each UHK student may have only one ID card. It always applies; thus, in cases when a student is admitted to study different fields of study at different faculties, the student changes the form of study, the student is also an employee of the UHK, etc.
Student ID cards are offered in two versions at the UHK.
The student card of the UHK with the ISIC (International Student Identity Card) licence
It is a multifunctional card, resp. a combination of two ID cards: an international ISIC student card and a UHK student card.
Only students of full-time studies who qualify for its issue can obtain a UHK card with an ISIC licence (hereinafter referred to as ISIC). The ISIC card is issued by UHK in cooperation with GTS ALIVE s.r.o. and it is also activated for an extended range of services outside UHK – you can find the information at www.isic.cz.
ISIC Card Usage
- International student identification card,
- UHK student card,
- Proof of study recognized outside UHK too,
- ID card of the UHK University Library,
- A card of a person accommodated at UHK University Halls of Residence,
- Self-service copying and printing at UHK,
- Providing access to UHK premises (parking, entrances to buildings, entrances to classrooms, lockers, etc.),
- Catering in canteens and buffet of UHK,
- Discounts at more than 2,000 locations in the Czech Republic and at other 42,000 locations in 130 countries around the world (a list of current discounts and benefits at isic.cz).
ISIC Card Validity Period
It is stated directly on the card when it is issued and the ISIC licence is renewed every following year by purchasing a revalidation stamp. The ISIC card is valid for up to 16 months, resp. always from September of one year to December of the following year, which means that if a student obtains an ISIC card or a revalidation stamp for this card at any time during the period from September 1 of one year to July 31 of the following year, it is always valid until December 31 of the following year.
Price for ISIC Card
- The ISIC card issue is charged CZK 450,
- An ISIC revalidation stamp for each subsequent year is charged CZK 350.
It is intended for full-time UHK students and above all for UHK students with a combined form of studies. It is issued by UHK.
UHK Student Card Usage
- UHK student card,
- ID card of the UHK University Library,
- A card of a person accommodated at UHK University Halls of Residence,
- Self-service copying and printing at UHK,
- Providing access to UHK premises (parking, entrances to buildings, entrances to classrooms, lockers, etc.).
Period of Validity of the UHK Student Card
It is stated directly on the card when it is issued and it is renewed annually by purchasing a revalidation stamp for the academic year ahead. It is valid from September of one year to September of the following year.
Price for UHK Student Card
- The issue of a UHK Student Card is charged CZK 250,
- A revalidation stamp for each subsequent academic year is charged CZK 150.
Employee Card
Each UHK employee is entitled to an employee card in the form of a chip identification card (hereinafter referred to as ID card). The use of the ID card is governed by Rector's Decree No. 6/2014 and No. 1/2016, as amended.
Each employee may have only one ID card. It always applies, thus also in cases when an employee is also a student of UHK.
Employee ID cards are offered in two versions at the UHK.
It is intended for all UHK employees. It is issued upon request in the UHK Service Centre free of charge.

- Providing access to UHK premises (parking, entrances to buildings, entrances to classrooms, etc.).
Period of Validity of the UHK Employee Card
It is bound to the validity of the employment contract (or agreement) with the UHK and it is not stated on the card.

The card of the UHK employee with the ITIC licence (hereinafter referred to as ITIC) is intended only for academic staff according to s. 70 of the Higher Education Act No. 111/1998 Coll. An academic staff member with an indefinite or definite employment relationship is entitled to obtain an ITIC card. However, for at least 12 months from the date of submission of the application. ITIC Card Period of Validity
It is stated directly on the card when it is issued and the ITIC licence is renewed every year by purchasing a revalidation stamp. The revalidation stamp can be purchased in the UHK Service Centre. The ITIC card is valid for up to 16 months, resp. always from September of one year to December of the following year, which means that if an academic staff member obtains an ITIC card or a revalidation stamp for this card at any time during the period from September 1 of one year to August 31 of the following year, it is always valid until December 31 of the following year.
