Chamber Orchestra

About the orchestra

The Chamber Orchestra of the University of Hradec Králové consists of students of the Music Department of the Faculty of Education of the University of Hradec Králové, students of conservatories, the Academy of Performing Arts and young graduates of these schools, but it is also open to other interested young people. The orchestra is the winner of the Grand Prix at the Letohrad Music Festival and the absolute winner of the Summa Cum Laude competition in Vienna in 2009. The competition and the winners' concert took place in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein.

Performances

The Chamber Orchestra regularly performs in the Hall of the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, in the Hall of the Joint Teaching Building of the University of Hradec Králové and in the Concert Hall of the Music Department of the Faculty of Music of the University of Hradec Králové. He regularly participates in festivals such as Camerata Nova Náchod, International Music Festival Letohrad, National Festival of Chamber and Symphonic Ensembles. It is invited to perform in various cities in the Czech Republic and abroad.

The orchestra performs on its own or accompanies renowned professional soloists (J. Stivín, G. Demeterová, Gabriela Vermelho, Ivan Ženatý, Cécile Boiffin, Ondřej Kukal, Jan Budař, Milan Svoboda, J. Vodička, B. Matoušek, H. Jouzová, P. Plášil, Milan Svoboda). Its repertoire includes compositions from all stylistic periods, including contemporary music. Its programmes are often combined with performances by well-known actors and it cooperates with dance theatre and choirs.

The orchestra's conductor is Mgr. Jaromír Křováček, a teacher from the UHK.
