Technology Transfer Together project was a success!
As of 31 August 2023, the Technology Transfer Together project (project number: 2020-1-CZ01-KA203-078313), on which the University of Hradec Králové collaborated with the Technical University of Košice and the University of Granada, was completed. The project lasted three years and was focused on the transfer of technology and the protection of intellectual property, on supporting the creation of a business environment based on the results of science and research with individual tools, and on supporting the creation of spin-off companies as business entities established for the commercialization of intellectual property created at the university.
Through the implementation of this project, the University of Hradec Králove strengthened institutional cooperation with the University of Granada and the Technical University of Košice at the level of education and cooperation in the field of intellectual property. For the first time, an innovative approach to transfer technology was applied at the top management level, where they were directly involved rectors and vice-rectors. Technology transfer was addressed at the top management level of three international universities for the first time. The institutional cooperation project envisaged relevant activities between all three partners, which provided a valuable opportunity to share their expertise in knowledge transfer and technology transfer and spin-off establishment methodology and support the development of innovative joint educational modules of intellectual property and knowledge transfer education and technology. Thanks to the involvement of the top management of all three partners, quality results were achieved at the rectorate level with a tangible impact on the university environment. On behalf of UHK, the Rector, Prof. Kamil Kuča and Vice-Rectors Dr. Leona Stašová, Prof. Ondřej Krejcar, and Prof. Petra Marešová, on behalf of TUKE Vice-Rector Prof. Radovan Hudák and on behalf of UGR Vice-Rector for research and transfer Prof. Enrique Herrera Viedma.
The project aimed to achieve 6 intellectual outputs. Despite the unfavorable situation at the beginning of the project solution caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the consortium managed to work effectively on the project and the outputs were achieved.
The goals of the project were achieved by developing the following intellectual outputs (IO):
- O1 The curriculum of the course Technology transfer for students, academics, researchers
and university staff - O2 Syllabi for the course Transfer technology for students, academics and researchers
- O3 Methodology for successful spin-off setting in academic area
- O4 Methodology_Summer school _Transfer technology_ Training programmes
- O5 Technology transfer pilot course Managers
- O6 Transfer technology – methodology for top management of university
The instructions are accompanied by several instructional materials and infographics that can help as a brief introduction and demonstration of the basic principles of teaching transfer technology and creating spin-offs. All outputs produced by the project are freely available on the project website and a platform for the dissemination of the results of the Erasmus+ program.
The project also included the organization of the Hradec Spring Tech 4TTCAMP focused on Transfer technology. The Hradec Spring Tech 4TTCAMP was attended by students from partner universities and lecturers from all over Europe. Students and teachers were delighted with the course of the Hradec Spring Tech 4TTCAMP.
We do many interesting things at the UHK, and I believe that a visit to our laboratories, or direct experience with scientific work, can help young people decide on their choice of further education or employment. I was pleasantly surprised by the students' interest, activity, and questions. It's a joy to work with such people,
Michal (participant, Ph.D. student): „I had the privilege of attending the Hradec Spring Tech 4TTCAMP focused on knowledge transfer and grant proposal writing. The event provided invaluable insights into effective knowledge sharing and crafting persuasive grant proposals. I discovered various funding opportunities and built connections with experts in my field. The hands-on proposal writing sessions boosted my confidence in pursuing innovative projects. This transformative experience has equipped me with the skills and network to make a meaningful impact in my academic journey.“
Thanks to the project, our universities have become more connected, we will provide our students and researchers with transfer technology course and educational programs and we will cooperate more in the field of technology transfer. An excellent example of future cooperation is the connection to a project with joint internships of students and teachers. Interconnection within advisory bodies in the field of intellectual property application also appears as a good direction for following cooperation,” says Prof. Krejcar.
