Pavel Zikl appointed associate professor of special education

On 1 May 2020, the Rector of Charles University in Prague appointed Pavel Zikl associate professor of special education. He was nominated by the Research Board of the Faculty of Education of Charles University after he defended his habilitation thesis titled Motor Activity of Children with Mild Mental Retardation.
Associate Professor Zikl has long been researching various topics in the area of the mentally handicapped and the education of children with special needs, especially children with physical, mental and combined disabilities.
Before joining the Faculty of Education of the University of Hradec Králové, Associate Professor PhDr. Pavel Zikl, PhD, worked as a teacher at a special school for children with multiple disabilities for over ten years. He joined the Faculty in 2003 and currently works as the Head of the Institute for Primary and Pre-Primary Education, where he educates future elementary and pre-elementary schoolteachers. His principal areas of interest as an educator include working with children with special needs, as well as courses devoted to individual types of disabilities (psychopaedics, somatopaedics) and the practical application of therapeutic interventions. As a former Academic Senator and a former Vice-Dean, he is a well-established member of the Faculty.
