Information for new users

On this page, you will find information that will help you to orientate in the structure of the network, the possibilities of its use and the offered services as quickly as possible. You need to be logged in to view inside information; you can log in at the top right of the page.

Login to the Network

Anyone cannot work with computers at school, and everyone can only do what he/she has the right to. Therefore, each user must log in to the network before starting his/her work.

The login name of each user consists of the first five characters of the surname (if the surname is shorter, the entire surname is taken and no more characters are added) and the first two characters of the first name. A number or a letter follows that guarantees the uniqueness of the user name (1-9, a-z).

Each account is protected by a password, which must be regularly changed. There are specific rules for creating a password.

In case you enter your password incorrectly too many times, your account will be blocked for a while, and you may attempt to log in only after this time.

The login name and provisional password are communicated to each student upon enrolment, and to each employee upon entering the employment relationship.

 

The user should change the provisional password as soon as possible.


E-mail

Each student and employee is provided with an e-mail box in the format of firstname.surname@uhk.cz (if more than one person has the same name and surname, a number is added behind the surname, e.g. jan.novak.5@uhk.cz). After completion of studies/employment, there is a term of protection (usually 2 months), after which the box together with the login account is cancelled.



Data Storages and Work with Files

Several storage solutions can be used at the UHK. The individual storages guarantee different levels of data security. Users have the option of storing their documents on disk storages within a local area network. Another option is to utilize the Office 365 cloud services and storages provided by CESNET Corporation (Owncloud).



Personal and Project Websites

Each student and employee have the opportunity to create a profile on the UHK web servers where he/she can publish information about himself/herself and share materials with his/her colleagues. It is possible to create websites at https://lide.uhk.cz and  https://edu.uhk.cz for personal websites and projects.


Service Centre

Each faculty has a service centre designed to support students in education at the UHK. You can print or make copies of your documents in black and white or in colour in the press centre, or use ring binding of your documents or CD/DVD burning, etc. Its staff can also change your password or unblock your locked account. At the end of your studies, you can use the assistance service in the submission of theses.

Study Administration

Each faculty uses an information system, in which the course of the admission procedure and each study is recorded. It is, therefore, possible to find out information about the status of the application, about the subjects enrolled, to obtain an overview of completed credits, to register for exams, etc. The STAG system is used at the university (https://stag.uhk.cz). Instructions for working with the study administration can be found directly in the respective system.

 

Study Materials

Most electronic study materials are located in the Blackboard system, but some teachers may have some materials uploaded to their portal profile. After logging into the portal, find your teacher and view his/her personal page where his/her study materials may be in the shared materials. Information on where the study materials for your subject are available will be provided by the teacher at the beginning of the semester.



Printing Services and Scanning to Email

The SafeQ printing solution can be used for the implementation of printing and copying services. Each student has his/her own account in the system, to which he/she can deposit cash. Printing and copying services are subsequently paid from this account. Recharge cash on an account is available at the service centres of the University.

Students and employees of UHK can take advantage of the possibility of scanning any document up to A3 format for free. It is possible to scan in both black and white and in colour. The scanned document will be saved on the document server. You will only receive a link to download the document (not downloadable from the Internet, only from the school's internal network, VPN and virtual classrooms). There is no limit to the size of the scanned files.
