The Institute of History, Philosophical Faculty, UHK, offers Bachelor's, follow-up Master's and doctoral degrees:

  • Presentation of Historical and Cultural Heritage - PHKD (Bachelor's degree - Bc.)
  • History (follow-up Master´s degree - Mgr.)
  • History (Ph.D.)
  • Central European Studies (follow-up Master´s degree - Mgr.)

We also provide education for teachers of the Faculty of Education, UHK:

  • History Focused on Education (Bachelor's degree - Bc.)
  • Teaching of History for Secondary/Primary Schools (follow-up Master´s degree - Mgr.)
  • Teaching of History for 2nd stage of Primary Schools (five-year Master´s degree - Mgr.)

Study programme in English: CENTRAL EUROPEAN STUDIES 

The Philosophical Faculty of the University of Hradec Králové offers M.A. degree which may be pursued in full-time study. M.A. programme is designed for students who have obtained a bachelor´s degree. The study is designed as a multidisciplinar overview of humanities and social sciences in which Central Europe is characterized in a broad context.

Central European Studies study programme

The application and the attachments are to be sent in the English language only. The mandatory attachments are:

  • a university diploma (completed education in any type of study programme). As part of the admission procedure, the applicants will be asked to provide certified copies of relevant documents or submit the originals in printed form. The decision on admission cannot be issued to the applicant without a proof of the achieved adequate university education.
  • a letter of motivation – explaining why the applicant wishes to study Central European Studies at the FF UHK;
  • a Master Thesis project proposal (the topic of the thesis, contents specification, theoretical framework, objectives, research methods and a list of relevant literature concerning – at the beginning of the first semester, the topic may be adjusted in cooperation with the thesis supervisor; it may also possibly be reconsidered if not in compliance with the focus of the field).
  • Also, an internationally valid certificate of English fluency is required, however, in case the applicant has previously completed university education in English, no proof is required.

In order to be admitted, the applicant must meet these basic criteria: prove sufficient knowledge of the English language as well as his/her motivation to study and preparedness for the study of social sciences and humanities in Central European context for a Master ́s degree.
